Introduction
Ladenge was designed by the internationally acclaimed Balinese architect Popo Danes. He has been honoured with numerous awards for his efforts in enriching Balinese contemporary architecture and preserving the heritage of both Bali and Indonesia. He has projects located throughout the Indonesian archipelago; in Malaysia; Thailand; the United States; and India. He is known for his sensitivity to nature, the environment and the culture within which he is working.
The interiors were designed by the owners, one of whom is an interior designer and a member of the American Society of Interior Designers.
The villa is stylish and elegant, incorporating the essential elements of Balinese philosophy and symbolism within its tropical design. Covering 2600 square metres of land, it is comprised of two 2-storey buildings, a single story guest house, a separate kitchen and a pool pavilion, all linked by covered walkways and terraces. The central feature of the property is the 16 meter swimming pool.
There is a wide choice of areas for dining and entertaining. Balconies and verandas have been positioned to maximise the panoramic views and the cooling tropical breezes. Guests will be soothed by the rhythmic sounds of breaking ocean waves.
The villa design utilizes local materials such as Palimanan stone, marble and merbau wood and is capped with an ironwood shingle roof. There is a unique combination of contemporary furnishings mixed with traditional Indonesian antiques and artifacts. The color theme of the interiors is chocolate, pale aqua and cream. An interesting design feature is the wooden lattice grillwork of windows and railings.
